Euro 2008 - Why I lay the draw in 'must win' games

Hi

Yes, the usual German efficiency, as is found in my
Volkswagen (apart from when it breaks down) was
in full force yesterday as they dispatched the
Portuguese. I have found during this tournament
that laying the draw has proved very productive in
perceived "must win" games, especially when a
team goes 2-0 up!

Enough to make Basil Fawlty love the Germans!

It's been a great tournament and Professor Kevin
Pullein's observations of few goals in the first round
then many goals in the later stages is certainly
proving itself to be true.

Highlight for me was the 12/1 bagged for 2-00
Spain at half time, although it ended up being 9/1 as
I dutched a couple of other scores. Since then, no
9/1 winner just yet!

Ascot has been great too, well for one Irish pair,
Aiden O'Brien and Johnny Murtagh who have
cleaned up, albeit at shortish prices. Followers of
my Irish Combos on the blog will have seen
henrythenavigator winning at odds of 11/1 earlier in
the season and as he has progressed his prices have
got very Ronnie Corbett in size!

Laying some of the selected shorties at Ascot is
reminiscent of the short priced favourites who
flopped at Cheltenham. The reason? Perhaps the
ultra competitive nature of racing at these meetings.
Although when you see a 13/8 shot in a 30-runner
handicap class 2 - it's gotta be worth laying (as was
the case with Bankable! - that's why I say "
selected") . . . .

FOLLOW THE MONEY
------------------------------

A big theme this week because of the (coincidental)
release of a number of manuals each highlighting
how we can unearth market moves. I have found a
way of tracking these systems' performance by
simply using the Racing Post and results sections.

It will be interesting throughout July to see if they
profit well, ESPECIALLY in evening and weekend
meetings which will free up those unable to follow
the market on weekdays to benefit from the
methodology. There are 2 standout methods which I
foresee great promise for

I need testers for a couple of the follow the money
systems I have. I would personally like to focus on
2 or 3, and farm one out, so get in touch.

It is my intention this week to get back to laying as I
have found it difficult to follow the myriad lay
systems on offer. I have about 3 or 4 I want to start
tracking, and am waiting for the ebook advertised at
http://www.bet-u-win.com/ProfitPlace.htm -from
the author of the football cash generator which had
some flaws, this manual promises much. What
intrigued me was the fact that selections are made in
the place only market - the idea being that there are
shorter prices in the place only market and I like my
shorter prices from a lay perspective.

With the usefulness of fasttrackplans I thought I'd
resurrect the Foundation system by Tony Gibson as
I found it produced a number of winners and my gut
instinct tells me that a different staking plan could
make all the difference. I have begun following this
system now and feel I may be on to something -
will keep you posted!

SYSTEMS SYSTEMS SYSTEMS
------------------------------

This system certainly interested me until I saw it
was by Trelwar Research whose previous products I
found I didn't have the patience for. I would be
interested to hear from anyone who has succumbed
to this system. It requires that you sign a non-
disclosure agreement (and no doubt provide a urine
sample!) And is limited in number (apparently!) to
50 so I was torn between tracking this as something
that can be recommended (or shelved!) and not
seeing the point if numbers were limited.
So do get in touch. If you succumbed.

DUTCH TASTIC?
------------------------------

No not the Oranje who have been Dutch-tastic in
the Euros but a system which produces some big
priced winners amongst the horses it chooses to
dutch. I talk about the cash generator plus and am
keen to see if there's a way to harness these big
priced winners instead of using dutching (which is a
target profit per race system which means that
effectively the odds of selections are irrelevant)

One day for example showed winners at12/1, 12/1,
25/1 and 28/1 amongst others - now the Betfair
prices, I promise you, won't be 25/1 and 28/1 -
they'll be nearer 40 -this is why I became
interested!

There system is a little impractical as it tells us to
back 3 horses in one race, so sheer volume of bets
in one day will be huge!   This'll get the old grey
matter working that's for sure! Read more about it
in the new newsletter!

If you have any systems you'd like following up,
then do get in touch via email as I do tend to miss a
few of them. Personal preference is for the 'set and
forget' systems (of which there are not too many it
must be said). Even if you have a system of your
own which you think has promise and you'd like
me to proof, please get in touch. You can do no
worse than some of the muppets who are peddling
their ebooks (most of which are written in crayon!)

Well, I'm off to pay a visit to Castleisland races this
weekend - should be good craic - I don't think the
meeting will be appearing in the Racing Post
though! I think it's in a field somewhere! And I'm
going to be getting a push bike too - as my close
show biz pal Phil Daniels said when with Blur "you
need to cut down on your pork life mate, get some
exercise!"

Have a great weekend

Clive
