Six ways to make money from the new footie seasonHello
Yes my break in Guernsey is coming to an end and I
return to Ireland on Sunday. My liver will have quite
clearly raised the white flag by then and, with a huge
sigh of relief, step on the plane.
It's been a great break in the Sunshine Isle. Checklists
have been marked off - friends + local cider - check.
Friends and golf - check. Uncle duty and being called
a bumbum head - check. Suntan - check.
Yes a very successful break!
Back to the old grindstone now in preparation for the
next newsletter, and the focus, given the time of year,
will be on football, the season beginning on the 15th
August. As mentioned before I want to focus on all of
the strategies available to us for this upcoming
season, in the following categories:
1 Trading and the variety of markets that are
tradable in running. Strategies to use for
money management and greening up.
2 Backing - straight backing - accumulator
backing - fixed odds football backing -
special backing bets to include permutations
3 Laying - this new dimension, in a 3 outcome
event like football (home win, draw, away
win) can enable us to back 2 outcomes by
laying the one - and, if in running, links in
well with the trading mentioned in the first
part. Lawrence Taylor's laying system will be
investigated this season for practicality and
profit potential. What markets are ideal for the
layer?
4 Fixed odds betting - as mentioned in the
backing section, this is traditional old-
fashioned betting and the mainstay of
Saturday bookmakers. There are a couple of
pieces of software which are specific to this
type of betting which will be investigated
5 Laying and backing accumulators - as you
may have seen last season I had some element
of success backing "multiples" on Betfair and
laying some short priced multiples too - e.g.
normally when we'd be praying for the last
team in an accumulator to win, this time we'd
be praying for them to lose or draw.
6 "Professional" tipsters and services. Are they
worth subscribing to, and if so, which ones
should we focus on (the Sports Statistician
springs to mind) and which ones should we
avoid (Richard Mark immediately springs to
mind!)
Certainly plenty for me to concentrate on as I begin,
in August to attempt to live off 1 hours sleep!
The blog at www.back-lay-trade-horses-football.blogspot.com will be returning on 4th August,
also available at www.whatreallywinsmoney.com
and, to coincide with the beginning of the footie
season I will have a football specific blog in which I
can go into greater depth when footballing
opportunities arise. The address is
tune in on 15th August for my tuppence worth!
If you have any footy systems and tipsters you think it
would be good to follow, then please let me know and
I will try to trial them.

SYSTEMS SYSTEMS SYSTEMS
A lot of interest in this one from a lot of readers so
something I must follow up. Apparently offers in
excess of £27000 have been made for this system
(yeh and Kelly Brook has just offered to give me a
back rub) Concerns? Well I did follow up some of the
listed results and they were invariably short prices,
odds on and just a little over evens in most cases.
The strike rate therefore becomes highly important to
ensure future profitability if focussing on these short
prices. There is a hint as to the staking plan. I would
guess at a 10% of a rolling bank staking plan.
Can this high strike rate be consistently provided? It
is a difficult feat, especially, I would suggest, over the
jumps season and there really is no proper evidence to
show performance over the winter jumps where we
have obstacles, and changeable weather and ground.
Again, fanciful staking in the market has yielded a
claimed £167,000 since year start (yeh, and Kelly
Brook is now giving me a foot massage, aided and
abetted by the delightful Tina O'Brien who used to be
in Corrie!)
Was this £167,000 actually achieved in real cash or is
it the work of an over imaginative copywriter? The
latter I would suggest!
All in all though, this is something I am keen to trial
and will try to blag membership for an ongoing time
to see how the service performs.
As I've been in Guernsey, I have not been able to
really look into any other plans or new systems on the
market, but as I say, with my return to Ireland will
come a return to a proper schedule.
Shortish and sweet this week. With a liver resembling
that of another famous Guernsey resident Oliver
Reed, I will bid farewell to Guernsey and try to
ensure the liver won't resemble that of a famous Irish
resident, Shane McGowan on my return!
Have a great weekend!
