Hi,
This has been the main theme of emails received from
readers this past week. Colin Davey, his Ned Flanders
moustache flowing in the wind, has begun marketing his
£96 per month tipping service to mailing lists consisting
largely of those new to betting.
If he were to market to those with experience, he'd know
what the answer is...
After my personal involvement and hearing the general
horror stories that have abounded, this is a service to be
avoided in my opinion.
The general theme is that we receive, for our £96 per
month, a phone number and, if we're lucky, one or 2 tips
a week. These are generally odds on shots - horses that
you don't need to pay someone else to tell you about,
that's for sure. During my naïve tenure with this betting
(ahem) genius, he put forward a 1/3 shot. It was then that
I quickly cancelled my standing order.
If you do join, you will get the opportunity to purchase a
£500 book or two. One of these is on loss retrieval
staking, which for a newcomer is enticing, but for those of
us with experience, can be a very dangerous and
reckless method of betting - if you don't have the
selections to fit.
The whole process is there to get you in the buying loop
and relieve you of large amounts of money -
unfortunately with not much substance in return. So to
those who receive the glossy brochure (and it is mighty
enticing, it really is) please do avoid, unless you want to
pay through the nose for odds on shots. Using Mr
Davey's valuations I suspect he could sell the information
in a typical WRWM newsletter for one hundred billion
dollars!

PUNTERS PARADISE
********************
Another reader contacted me about the above this week.
It seems these system sellers were implementing my
eBook rules from last week, especially the guarantee.
Getting a refund from these people, I mentioned, was as
easy as climbing Everest in a pair of boxer shorts - and
so it's proved with this reader who, as is his right, has
asked for a refund (as per the terms and conditions)
because the manual is just not for him. Email after email,
stalling until you lose the will to live and give up!
As to puntersparadise "£100+ pounds per hour anytime
of the day" - I really fail to see how the manual can
provide us with this kind of return. The "anytime of the
day" element includes, I would guess, American and
Australian racing. Our education regarding American and
Australian racing is provided by way of 2 screenshots of
websites pertinent to these countries -and THAT'S IT!
There is nothing within the manual telling me where my
£100+ per hour is going to come from (and believe me I'll
be caffeined up on intravenous if I could make £100 per
hour).
The eBook uses one hundred words where only 2 will do.
We are given paragraph after paragraph on the
intricacies of paper trading which is not required at all.
The manual is full of Americanisms, which bear no real
relevance to the betting world in the UK. There is even a
section on the "Anatomy of a Ticket" (LOL!) why? If we
are using Betfair?
American wagers are then noted (and again this is freely
available on the Internet) and more pages are filled by
taking us through Betfair and the Racing Post. The rest of
the manual is a glorified tour of the Racing Post and
basic form reading - nothing new at all.
So this will be paradise if your definition of paradise is
"waking up next to Dot Cotton and the only thing she's
wearing is a smile".
One to avoid and God knows how he was charging £147
for it (of course he reduced it to £47 out of the goodness
of his heart).
I am trying to help the reader get his money refunded as
per the guarantee. This is another example of an eBook
which meets nearly all of the criteria mentioned last
week.

BETTING VIRTUOSO
********************
"On October 7th, the betting industry will be shaken up
with this release."
Why? Are you going to sell something that actually
works?
Yes, I've received loads of emails from my affiliate show
biz pals regarding this new system, which of course
promises the earth. Emails from such luminaries as Mr
Schmidt of cracking Betfair fame, whose backing system
is a superb laying system.
Again, they are following my rules of eBook selling to the
letter - especially the last rule about affiliates telling you
that this is the 'last thing you will ever need' when they've
probably never even read the contents.
It seems the marketing has been turned up a notch and
become very American and slick. Looks like these guys
have splashed out on an American copywriter (so to
speak!)
The screenshot shown from A Betfair account signals
that this may be a laying system given that the amounts
are all around £40, minus commission.
Either this is a laying backing stake, or this is a
predetermined target profit backing system - I would go
for laying system here. I hope to be able to blag a copy of
the (yawn) last eBook I will ever need
Other systems I have just received include the Football
Loophole, in which there is, of course, no loophole
apparent whatsoever (they must be running out of titles
as the thesaurus couldn't deliver this time!)
There are some very familiar themes here, and a take on
my enhanced bets trading (If I thought it was worth £37,
I'd have told all my affiliate chums about it!)
The manual is really one man's view on what he does to
come up with his selections in a given footballing week.
It's largely common sense to yours truly but admittedly
there is some substance here. For me there are no real
systems for football - it is all wholly opinion based in my
view - your mission is simply to do the research using
free web resources and build evidence.
When trading, simply identify your opinion, choose the
market which will best suit your opinion of the match
(tight affair, few goals, goalfest? One team well worth
backing? Lay the away team? Etc etc) and trade your
position once the game goes in play.
That's it really!
A book for me to reread this weekend. Again, this is not
of sufficient quality for me personally (perhaps my
standards are too high or the eBook is not really targeted
for someone with my experience... or the desire to do
things myself - rather than be directed by self styled
experts).

BLOGTASTIC
*************
On the blog this week I've decided to start a
compounding experiment with place only selections - it
will show you that slow and steady can profit BUT may
also reveal the problems with loss retrieval and short
odds. Things, though, are going extremely well and I
have ventured into trying to get bigger odds selections
other than those which will ensure a 100% strike rate (but
are horrendously short at 1.05!) Why only today I opted
for Nevskys Bridge at a whopping 1.71 (place odds!) and
he crept into 3rd so job done!
Still, it's very interesting and I hope my strike rate and
compounding will prove a success and more importantly
that you are learning something about place backing.
I have received some correspondence from place
backers and will try to twist their arms to get them to
share their secrets with you.
Won 9-2 Won 9-1 Won 13-2 Won 7-2 Won
100-30 Won 3-1
2nd 7-1 3rd 10-1 3rd 8/1 2nd 4-1 7 lost.
Martin adds a few more distinctions that he'd live to share
"Betfair has become very important for use with this plan
as it helps us spot falsely shortened horses on the live
market. I would suggest if a horse is any bigger than 1.5
point on Betfair compared to its on course price then that
qualifier can be considered a non-bet.
There was a good example on Wednesday with a horse
called Ursus. This horse opened 12-1 and was backed
into 10-1 on course but it could still be backed at around
15.5 on Betfair which is a very strong indication that the
horse is not as strongly fancied as it would appear."
I'm off now to hire an American copywriter to make me
look more slick infront of the French Girl, Madamoiselle
Clouseau - have a great weekend!

PS More testers are required for another unique betting
strategy - it's all a little hush hush but you'll be among the
first to test it out. So usual emails please to me - we have
to limit numbers to 20 so get emailing!
