Now that Derren Brown has brought the National Lottery back into the limelight with his amazing programmes, I thought I would start this month with a bit of fun betting on it, always remembering that it is one of the worst bets in the world with odds of almost 14 million to 1 against you winning it. But at least we can console ourselves with the knowledge that part of our losing stake is going to good causes.
