Hi,

Well it’s here, finally. The one you’ve all been waiting for. The
hottest ticket in town. Yes the Krankies reunion tour of the UK is
about to get under way, with special guests Sue Pollard and Ted
Bovis, Keith Harris and Orville and the evergreen Lionel Blair.

Oh, and there’s some footy tournament somewhere or other I think.

Day 1 of the World Cup is about to get under way, and it’s Day 1
of my live chat so I hope to see some of you there for a
discussion on the best way to nail these matches and profit from
them. There will, no doubt, be ample discussion on which country
has the best looking fans (my money is on Brazil).

If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up and get all my
commentary and analysis here for free:

World Cup Chat

There’ll be, no doubt, a bit of backing, a bit of laying, and a
bit of trading, and a bit of betting in obscure betting markets
all with the sole purpose to come out of the World Cup intact and
in profit.

My ante post bet, before a match kicks off, must be Spain. They
have such strength in depth in all areas. The goalkeepers come
from Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The defence has at its heart the 2 Barcelona centre backs who,
admittedly, just have to hope their front players score more than
they concede.

The midfield contains Xavi and Iniesta, again from Barcelona and a
pair of players who, in tandem, are devastating. Don’t forget
Fabregas, the Cock-er-ney magician.

And up front, it’s Torres, Villa, and the wonderful Pedro again
from Barcelona. A shining star is this last named player who has
been rock solid when called upon for Barca this season.

All in all it’s a mouth watering team, and I have not even
mentioned those waiting in the wings as squad and replacement
players. Spain are currently 5 on Betfair to win the Tournament.
This market will be in play on Betfair and thus tradeable.

This is the first thing for you to check, that the market you are
betting in has a facility, on Betfair, to allow you to trade out
for a profit.

If Spain progress I’ll be in a great position of being able to
sell my bet at a lower price as the odds of 5 lessen.

My dark horses? Slovenia at a tasty 690. Again this bet is based
on trading rather than a hope Slovenia win the competition. It’s a
bet to nothing given the odds. I may well attack this bet from a
different angle because they may not move in price. Perhaps, then,
back them to win their group?

And on to day 1 and the hosts take on the Mexicans. Here’s a
little stat to whet your betting appetite!

Here are the opening games of the host nations:

1930 Uruguay - Peru         1-0
1934 Italy - USA         7-1
1938 France - Belgium        3-1
1950 Brazil - Mexico        4-0
1954 Switzerland - Italy    2-1
1958 Sweden - Mexico        3-0
1962 Chile - Switzerland    3-1
1966 England - Uruguay        0-0
1970 Mexico - Soviet Union    0-0
1974 West Germany - Chile    1-0
1978 Argentina - Hungary     2-1
1982 Spain - Honduras        1-1
1986 Mexico - Belgium        2-1
1990 Italy - Austria        1-0
1994 USA - Switzerland        1-1
1998 France - South Africa    3-0
2002 South Korea - Poland    2-0
2006 Germany - Costa Rica    4-2

14wins-4 draws-0 losses.

This performance of the host nations could signal a lay of Mexico
in the opening match. At odds of 2.72 this is a good lay
opportunity ONLY if you are taken by the stat above.

Stats are normally the key to success and we can find the
requisite ones for the tournament at www.fifa.com, but as this is
a one off and some teams have never met before, then, for me,
reading the markets will be important, as will personal opinion.

I introduced you to asian handicaps as a method to read the
betting markets last time out in matches which might be difficult
to get an angle into, and this is something I will be utilizing
this tournament.

So it’s going to be a tournament with a difference for me football
wise. Normally I stand by readable form found in league matches
but this time it will be on what I see as the match unfolds, and
the odds, and the opinions of the many tipsters for the
publications (if someone makes a strong argument you agree
strongly with, then follow it!)

So it all kicks off today. Brighton Pier 3pm Matinee performance
for the Krankies et al. It will clash with the 1st match of the
World Cup. What a dilemma!!

Have a great weekend.
