Last week’s eletter introduced you to a number of specific
strategies and techniques for profiting in this coming football
season and I hope that you will at least attempt some of them this
new season.

Do, though, wait for some form on the board. The more games we can
look through, the better we can recognise patterns and sequences
that can help us in our betting decisions.

Look at Burnley for instance. Their 2 1-0 home wins last season
against Man Utd and Everton signalled that at home it is perhaps
unwise to bet against them... but away from home they were readily
opposeable with 3-0 and 4-0 losses to Liverpool and Chelsea in the
very next matches.

This, then, sets up the season for us punters as far as Burnley
are concerned.

And it brings me to another factor that can help you make a profit
this season – and that is Specialisation.

Simply put, focus on one league that you know best this season.

Or focus on only the top flights in each European Country this
season.

Or focus only on specific teams in those top flight leagues.

You get the idea I hope? By specialising, we do not become jack of
all trades and masters of none, we will, I hope, get a feel for a
certain league, or a certain team within said league.

And so it follows, that we will also get a feel for the key
personnel in those teams – if they are absent from any game,
perhaps this changes the dynamics of the team?

Ready examples I hinted at in my previous emails include Messi at
Barcelona ( and I would also watch out for Pedro coming off the
bench as he seems to score crucial goals) , Robben for Bayern
Munich, Siarez for Ajax, and nearer to home, Rooney for Man Utd.

If these key personnel are missing then we, perhaps, hesitate in
our betting.

Laying In This New Season

Laying in football matches effectively allows us to back 2 out of
3 outcomes in a traditional match odds market and is therefore a
very effective tool we can use this new season.

Laying is also a very good trading tool. By looking to lay certain
very short odds on teams in ‘in running’ matches where we think
they may struggle to gain an advantage, we can actually trade the
price movement. The longer the game stays a draw, then the odds
for the very short odds favourite will increase incrementally to
allow a trade (and if the lay goes awry with an early goal,
liabilities will be small enough to not be a concern)

And your decisions will be better made with better research.
